About Nalini Kokatay

My Story

I am passionate about health and wellness, the mind-body-spirit connection, and exploring human potential.  Healing has been an overarching theme in my life, personally, as I’ve nbavigated my own challenges, and professionally ever since I entered into the field two decades ago.  I read medical text books and studied anatomy as a child.  My grandmother who grew up in India massaged me from the time I was an infant, treated my illness with herbs, and taught me yoga poses from the age of 6. When my mother went back to school when I was a teen, I read her psychology text books and studied the DSM.  I read anything I could about the body, about health and illness, psychology, and spirituality.  In my twenties I experienced a series of serious health challenges that deepened my compassion for human suffering and propelled me deeper on my path.  I recognize that without these experiences I would not be where I am today, or who I am today.  It is most often through our challenges and suffering that we grow, often in a new direction that we otherwise would not have chosen.

I am grateful for all the training and study I’ve undertaken, and I recognize that nothing compares to experience.  I draw from my years of personal and professional experience, as well as techniques, theories, and exercises I’ve learned to bring you my best.  I continue to learn and grow and know that I have not nor ever will “arrive”  but there are a few things that have become foundational to my work and philosophy.

I am not a doctor, so I will never diagnose or prescribe.  But in my work with clients, it is relevant to look at all these areas and explore the relationship between the person’s physical symptoms and the many factors at play.  We all know that everything in the body is connected, and this extends to …everything!

Our physical symptoms, the thoughts we think, the emotions we feel, the food we eat, our social-emotional milieu, our sleep, etc.  I invite you to explore these relationships for yourself, as you are the expert and the one in charge of your health and wellbeing---not a doctor or any other practitioner.  Other people can be indispensible as guides or purveyors or information, techniques, surgeries, medicines, or something else that we need in order to help us move forward.  But, no one heals you.  Healing is about your relationship with yourself and the divine.
